I was changing my clothes after church and had the television on in the background. I heard one of the commentators say they expected the TV ratings for The Senior British Open to be the highest in several years because of Tiger Woods play last week. The theory was that because Tiger played well and contended in last week's Open Championship, there would be a renewed interest in golf. If this is the reality then a rising tide can definitely raise all ships.
This poses an important question. Do we raise all tides with our attitude? Do we build people up? Do we make everyone around us better? Or are we guilty at times of sucking the water out of the harbor? One bad attitude can destroy an entire team. One person who sucks the water out of the harbor can leave all other boats landlocked.
The challenge is to be the high tide! Be the person who lifts everyone else up. Be the positive energy that makes your team better. Be the smile your peers enjoy seeing. Set the example. Be the light that helps everyone see clearer. Be that person!
So, which one are you? This world, your company, your community and maybe your family needs you to be the tide that raises their ships. The choice is yours!
